¿Cachái?: third time's a charm

on thursday morning i woke up and had revelation. it was time to move. i honestly hadn't been planning on moving out but for some reason that morning i knew it was time for a change. so that's when my apartment hunt began, which i must say was not the best timing considering i was at Lollapalooza (hell yeah! i'll talk about this in another post) the WHOLE WEEKEND and wanted to move out by monday/tuesday at the latest considering it was the first of the month and i didn't want to pay extra rent

the main reasons i wanted to move:

1. i wasn't speaking any spanish at home (due to host mom being at work all day and host sisters at school)

2. i lived way too far from everything - it took me an hour to get anywhere i needed/wanted to be

3. got sick of having to pay for cabs to get home late at night

4. i woke up the ENTIRE house every time i got home late (which was pretty much every night). when the door opens the alarm automatically sounds and you have to run across the apartment to turn it off, which by that time my host mom would already be awake and turn it off for me and then mumble for me to put the safety lock on the door. this got old really fast.

other little annoyances that i'm happy i no longer have to deal with:

1. having to take off the top of the tank on the toilet to flush it every time

2. the smallest shower i've ever been in

3. zero water pressure in that tiny shower

4. and also practically zero hot water

but i did it! i found a place in the exact neighborhood i was hoping. now it only takes me 20 minutes to get to class on the metro and i can walk everywhere else i need to be !!!

i now live with a 32 year old chilean guy who's a designer and a 22 year old french girl who's also studying in santiago but at a different university than me. they are both súper chill and i already feel at home
