bolivia - árbol de piedra

after a terrible nights sleep in the freezing desert, our new brazilian friend gave us these intense altitude meds which were pretty miraculous. the main highlight of our adventures of day two of our 4x4 jeep tour was seeing the árbol de piedra (rock tree) and climbing on all the awesome rock mountains

árbol de piedra - formed from wind erosion

lion king impersonation. it looked like pride rock.

what sucks about this picture is you can't tell how high up we are... it was a good climb!

next stop was to see las montañas coloradas - the colored mountains. seriously crazy! all different shades of red, brown, white, and there was even some blue and green

our jeep crew!
edgar (el chofér), daniela, rosie, justin, sylvia, brian, me

the whole tour group

next stop, laguna honda for more pictures and a lunch break

another beautiful laguna altiplánica

flamenco :)

bolivian flag

seeing the lone jeep driving through scenic landscape definitely reminded me of a car commercial

volcano behind me!

all of this land is covered in lava rocks
i liked the lone cloud hovering above the volcano

here is the train track running from Calama (Chile) to Uyuni (Bolivia) !

an awesome frequent occurrence of the day: LLAMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
look at him!!!

i love them. south america has turned me into a fanatic of the llama species and all derivatives - llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, guanacos

we took a pit stop in this tiny pueblo in the middle of nowhere. stretch!
solar panel!
i get really excited every time i see renewable energy being used, an awesome source of power for these areas that have very little resources and very little money
